SHIM SEUNGYEON COLLECTION & EDITION
Shim Seungyeon presents a collection that adds a new sensibility through designs emphasizing the unique physical properties of materials. This collection offers a distinctive interpretation of what new objects in the modern environment—where items from various eras and cultures coexist—should be. His s interpretation of this era expands and experiments with contemporary expressions by creatively using ordinary materials and techniques or by reinterpreting traditional crafts and materials in a modern context. This ongoing creation is available as products you can find in shop or as unique editions.

PRESSURA COLLECTION
Shim Seungyeon embarks on a creative journey, weaving together strength and sophistication in his Pressura furniture collection. Guided by an exploration of natural expressions through material compression, the designer transforms the conventional use of hollow metal pipes into a fusion of form and function. Departing from the norm with larger than usual pipe diameters, the collection introduces a refreshing visual language, inviting users to engage with furniture designs that transcends mere utility.
The designer’s innovative use of metal compression in the collection offers a fresh perspective on material expressions within the design. Straying from the usual, particularly through the purposeful selection of hollow metal pipes with a larger diameter, the approach is more than an aesthetic deviation as it is a conscious effort to magnify the inherent transformative qualities of compression.
The compressed sections function as connectors, fostering an expressive dialogue between components and instilling a distinct character in each piece. This method embodies a subtle choreography, harmonising the material’s inherent essence with the vision, resulting in designs that captivate not just visually but also on an elemental level. This exploration pushes past the boundaries of conventional design, establishing a symbiotic connection between material and artistic expression.

FOR BEAN BROTHERS / PROJECT
The materials are selected, considering the impressive interior with concrete finishing and abundant natural sunlight, aim to convey richness despite their neutral appearance. White acetal, reminiscent of milk, and glossy cream-colored frames are among the chosen materials. These selections seamlessly blend functionality with sensory pleasure. From visual language of the Pressura collection, two sized benches and narrow bar tables are created, and designed for optimal use within the communal areas of the building.
